Saved from the mud!

We've had a lot of rain recently and the paddocks are getting wet and muddy. When we went to check on the cows today one of them was in the process of giving birth. It's wierd seeing a little head sticking out the back of a cow!

A few moments later the calf popped out and landed in some muddy water next to the water trough. It's lucky I was there because I don't think that little one would have survived on its own! I pulled it out of the water and let its mother lick it clean while we went to check on the other cows.

Later the two of them were taken back next to the shed for some warm milk and fresh grass.
