First collection: 730 litres

The milk tanker arrived spot on 7:30am today and emptied our milk vat for the first time this season. It didn't take him long as there were only 730 litres there - still that's safely above the minimum collection volume of 400 litres, and we already have many more cows ready to supply the vat for the next collection.

Now we have to wait for around two days to find out if the milk meets all of Fonterra's milk quality standards. The farm we're working on has a very good milk quality track record so we should pass ok - but anything can happen at the start of the season, especially since we're new to this job.

Now there's another thing to add to my to do list - the vat needs to be cleaned every second day after the milk has been collected.
